California Forever - Urban Water Supply Planning

The California Forever endeavor is aimed at designing and developing a sustainable, pedestrian-friendly city located in Solano County, California, to accommodate an estimated population of up to 500,000 residents over the next few decades. The primary aim of this initiative is to provide innovative solutions to critical regional infrastructure demands, including energy, transportation, and water systems.

My work efforts include:

  • Developed sustainable groundwater extraction scenarios using a numerical model to evaluate water supply reliability, and SGMA compliance.

  • Leveraged historical remote sensing datasets to analyze land use change in Solano.

  • Developed surface water supply scenarios for projected urban population growth.

  • Built climate change factors into Precipitation, Evapotranspiration, and Initial Conditions (from SVSim)datasets to analyze impacts of climate change on projected urban water supply.

  • Developed a suite of codes and workflows in Python for large dataset processing, output visualization, geospatial analysis.
